DAY 528: Reflecting on a Special Day

Dear Hevreh,

I don’t know about you, but I’m still kind of “floating” from the Rubber Duck Race on Sunday. More than the revenue it raised, this event brought our community together to work together, to have fun together, and to bond together. All of these elements are needed to build a dynamic, robust, and exciting community and they were all on display this past Sunday. Whether it was re-situating our table and spreading out within the YMCA to sell more ducks, or playing duck-duck-goose (and then duck-duck-barvaz) to pass the time, or simply wearing a yellow “Duck Handler” t-shirt to show our pride in doing this event together, we displayed the kind of work ethic and joy that makes our community special.

Now, we need to spread that joy and work ethic to others both within and outside our community. Now, we need to take all of those pictures, and videos, and moments from the duck race to not only promote an even GREATER race next year, but to show anyone who’s paying attention just how special, just how soulful, our Jewish Home for the Soul really is.

If you have any videos or pictures, please email them to me or better yet post them on Facebook and tag Congregation Beth Mordecai so that the entire community can see them. Also, make sure to join us this Friday night for a special service in which we will continue to share the joy from this great event and what it means for the future of our community.

Let’s share these unforgettable moments so that we will always have more special moments to share.

Kol Tuv,

Rabbi Ari Saks
