Our Condolences — Einhorn Family (Rabbi Saks’ in-laws)

An important message from our rabbi:

Dear Hevreh,

Sadness is a part of a life filled with love and of meaning. When we lose people who made a great impact on our lives, people with whom we connected on a deep, spiritual level, we mourn terribly when they die and when we have to come to the realization that they will no longer be physically present in our lives.

It is on that note that I am deeply saddened to report that Mark Einhorn, brother and brother-in-law to Jules and Carol Einhorn (and Rachel’s uncle), died yesterday in Philadelphia. He was a wonderful uncle, a funny and caring man whose presence will be sorely missed by so many in our family.

It is at moments like these when we turn to the bonds of friends, family, community, religious tradition, and God to give space for our hearts to break and (eventually) the support to pick up the broken pieces of our heart to mend. Two of these “space giving” opportunities are the funeral (tomorrow morning) and shiva (which will be open to the public through Sunday, but will be sat by the family through Tuesday). Please see attachment below for more information on the funeral, shiva, and donation details.

As such, I will be away tomorrow and Thursday, returning to Perth Amboy for Friday and Shabbat, then leaving again for the rest of shiva from Sunday to Tuesday.

If you have a ritual or pastoral emergency, you can call me at the office (732-442-2431) and follow the prompts. I will also be checking email (ari.saks@gmail.com) on a sporadic basis.

May God comfort all who mourn and may all who mourn be comforted by the people and the rituals that display God’s presence.

Kol Tuv,

Rabbi Ari Saks
